Donald Wolfit Charitable Trust pay tribute to Dame Maggie Smith ahead of actress Claire Bloom’s visit to Newark
Members of the Donald Wolfit Charitable Trust have paid tribute to Dame Maggie Smith ahead of the visit to Newark by fellow actress Claire Bloom.
The trust members have said that they were “saddened” to learn of the death of Dame Maggie, who died on Friday (September 27) at the age of 89.
Dame Maggie worked with Claire on the 1981 movie ‘The Clash of the Titans’, which also starred Laurence Olivier, Ursula Andress, and Sian Phillips.
Claire will be visiting Newark Palace Theatre this coming Sunday (October 6) and will be in conversation with former Nottingham Playhouse director Richard Digby Day, discussing her distinguished career on stage, in films, and on television.
“We are honoured to have Claire Bloom visit us this week for ‘an afternoon with’ at the Palace Theatre, and no doubt will touch upon the times they worked together,” said Trust chairman David Piper.
“We recognise that we have lost another theatrical great. Anyone who has an interest in the stage, films or television will no doubt have a favourite role performed by Dame Maggie.”
